Help & support
Common questions, quick answers, and a direct line to us if you're stuck.
How do I build my first site?
Open the Builder from the sidebar, describe your business in one sentence (e.g. "a bakery in Nashville with online ordering"), and hit send. Your site generates in under a minute. From there, keep chatting to tweak anything — "change the hero color", "add my phone number 555-1234", "make the title bolder".
How do I publish my site to a real URL?
Once your site looks good in the Builder, hit the Publish button in the top-right. We save your project, deploy the site to a clean Ontic URL (getontic.com/s/your-slug), and give you the link. If you've connected a custom domain in Addresses, it'll serve there too.
How do credits work?
You get 5,000 credits per billing period. Each build or targeted edit costs 125 credits — so that's 40 full generations/revisions a month. Click-to-edit changes count the same. Credits reset automatically on your billing date.
How do I buy a custom domain (like yourbusiness.com)?
Open Addresses in the sidebar, search for the domain you want, and click Buy. It's $20/year and we register it in your name through Dynadot. The domain is pointed at your Ontic site automatically with SSL — no DNS config needed.
Can I connect a domain I already own?
Yes. In Addresses, use the "Connect a domain you already own" form. Enter your domain, pick which project to point it at, and we'll set up DNS routing + SSL on our side. You'll get instructions for the DNS record to add at your current registrar.
Can I take bookings on my site?
Yes. When you generate your site, the AI can embed a booking widget. Open a project in the Builder and ask "add online booking". Customers pick a time, you get a confirmation email, and all bookings show up in your Bookings tab for you to confirm or cancel.
What happens if I cancel?
Your sites stay up until the end of your current billing period, then they go offline. Custom domains show a "site inactive" page. Your project data stays in our system — if you resubscribe within a year, everything is restored exactly where you left off.
My card failed. What now?
A red banner appears at the top of your portal with a 48-hour grace period. Click Update card to open Stripe and swap your payment method. Your sites stay live during the grace period. If you don't update within 48 hours, sites are temporarily unpublished (not deleted) and resume the moment payment clears.
Can I undo an edit?
Yes. After any click-to-edit change, an Undo chip appears at the bottom of the preview. Click it or press Ctrl+Z to revert. The last 25 edits are saved to the undo stack.
Does Ontic see my customers' contact info?
Only to pass it through. Contact form submissions and booking details are routed to your notification email (set in Settings) and stored in your dashboard so you can review them. We don't sell, share, or use that data for marketing.
